Measure floor to ceiling and leave about 30cm for the topper. A 9ft tree wants a ceiling around three metres or a touch over. If you’ve got more height to play with, the 10ft range is the next rung up.
Scale the decorating to the tree: around 100 LEDs per foot is the rule of thumb, so from 900 fairy lights for a good glow and 1,800-plus for properly bright. Bigger baubles — 100mm and up as features — stop decorations disappearing into a tree this size.
