Choosing a Christmas tree, the Dom’s way

A good tree is the backbone of the whole room, so it’s worth getting right. The range runs from 3ft tabletop trees to 10ft commercial-height showpieces — pre-lit and unlit, classic full profiles, slim pines for tight corners, plus the fun stuff: gnome trees, LED birch and willow trees, even a gold fir. Every tree here is one we’d happily put up ourselves, and most have been set up in the Archerfield showroom so we can tell you how they really look.

Getting the size right

Measure floor-to-ceiling and take off about 30cm for a topper and breathing room. A standard 2.4m ceiling suits a 7ft tree nicely; 6ft is the easy all-rounder for most Brisbane lounge rooms; 3–4ft trees are perfect for tabletops and kids’ rooms. Going big? The 8–10ft ranges make a statement in high-ceilinged spaces and shopfronts.

Pre-lit or unlit?

Pre-lit trees come with the lights already woven through the branches — no untangling, no wrestling on the lounge-room floor. Prefer to light it your own way? Pair an unlit tree with a set of fairy lights and make it yours.

The finishing touches
